Welcome to Failed to Load.

It seems that in one house you can't get any crazier. Two gaming roommates, a homosexual Wii, a ninja hamster and an army of evil, anthropomorphic chicken grenades? The end is nigh when people like Captain Falcon and Anti-Phuc make their way to cause chaos in this house. These roommates and their friends won't stand for this, but what can you say about a psycho that looks like Elvis, a smart-mouthed teenager, a womanizer and a flagrant beggar who can't seem to get along well enough to stop their domain from falling apart?

Currently: We're back to real gaming comics again...hopefully.

Where'd it all go?

So, I was reviewing our archives last night. It's so amazing how much progress we've gone through this whole time. We went from shitty-quality black and white, to okay-quality black and white, to flat colors, to colors with shading.

But that's not the only thing that's changed. The old comics were truly about gaming, or at least, about gamers. It seems that during that golden age where we (okay, Alex, I know I sucked balls) used to be able to do all these gaming jokes and ShamWow our audiences, has a terminal illness. I'm still laughing at stuff we made almost a year ago. The comic was designed to be about gamers and gaming, and after the hiatus, although I've tried to revive it with true gaming comics, it never got past the scanning.

It seems that during the hiatus, the golden age has died out. We're no longer a comic about gaming, we're a comic about our own lives. Even if Jae and Phuc are incarnations (if at least that was our original intentions), the comic's focus was supposed to be gaming. Well, Alex and I don't play that many games nowadays at all. We've sort of lost the time for it, and that kind of kills our initial intentions.

It might be time to revitalize the golden age, because right now, we might be somewhere around bronze. The comic almost becomes a chore since during that hiatus, although the art has improved, it's been accustomed to just artwork that you'd see on Deviant Art, not a comic. That's a pain in the ass, but if we're supposed to be a gaming comic and not just two roommates who used to game, then that's the sacrifices we've got to take.

The turn of 2009. Heh, this only happens once and this year, I've got no real regrets. Everything that has meant to happen has happen and I'm glad that I've endured the worst parts of it. I'm proud for what I've accomplished this year such as being able to run a webcomic with a great friend and to be able to live in this age where I can share my life with a great girl.

Happy New Years!

Some Pretty Big Changes

A new year's rolling in. I've decided to make some changes to the comic and some much needed revamps to the site.

First things, first. I finally (sort of) mastered the use of Illustrator up to as much as Alex has. I'm glad that I've been able to constantly improve rapidly. My art (specifically my shading and highlighting) has kicked up a notch and wallpapers, filler art, and the what not will look kickass (just with Photoshop alone).

Next, the comic will follow a set format so that all the comics (regardless of the artist) will look pretty much the same (in terms of style and structure). Also, there are some changes of clothes (most notably Jae) and the inclusion of a new female character as Crystal will take a backseat in light of events that have nothing to do with myself or most of the crew. It's not personal, at least for us anyways.

Lastly, yeah, the site will finally be updated. Each section will be brought to date and the Wiki article'll be revamped and updated. Sometimes, the comic becomes a burden but it's totally worth it.

One thing before I forget, though, if you guys came here just for game updates, sorry but I've put that on hiatus. It's a big pain in the ass. I'm going to make another game that fits more of the Failed to Load style for the PC (it's one player guys but I might put a 2 Player capability) when I feel like it.

One last thing I want to say, and it's not about the comic. No one knows this yet, so yeah. I'm one of the artists for Temple City Life now. As cool as that may sound, it's just a Community Service thing. There's no profit and I'm not a star. Also, if you have any questions, read this before you ask me anything.

Alright, lates.

Man...

Man, so my family was out at the mall today for shopping (I was there to see if I could score a good deal on Guitar Hero: World Tour, but no luck) and we went past the T-Mobile phone sales place-thingy to check on any good phones we might be interested in when our contract expires soon.

Holy crap, man, those guys were the creepiest people I have ever met. No offense to them but they looked weird and how they tried to attract customers could only be described as disturbing. "Hey, someone told me that you're with T-Mobile!" "Hey, come over here, I can save you a lot of money!" "I can get you a free phone!" You get the picture, they were just screaming it out. The dude that helped us, stereotypically, you would call him fruity. "This phone is excellent. We have an excellent plan for this excellent phone. Check out this excellent phone--the color choices are excellent." And none of them would leave us alone. Call them over-enthusiastic or hard-working, I call them gay and creepy.

Moving on, there is no update but I can assure you that Alex and I are working on it soon. I have a lot of ideas but I have trouble and no time to manifest them on paper. On the bright side, my art has improved and I learned many techniques that will enhance the quality of it.

As this is our first winter working on the comic, I had made wallpaper (pardon the fanservice) sometime in November on a boring day. You can say it's provocative but I wouldn't say so, personally. I'll be uploading it soon once my computer problems are solved.

Hey guys!
I know you guys are probably wondering if we're still alive or not, but not to worry! It's just that we've been busy with school and Jason's got a girlfriend that's why he's been hella busy, but I'm working on a small arc that might satisfy your hunger! Just wait a bit longer, please, I hope you won't be disappointed!

Comics of Time

Thanks to Smack Jeeve's ability to change the time and date of when comics are submitted, I can put in my finished comics without disturbing an unfinished arc of Alex's and vice-versa. Also, I'm allowed to submit comics into the future by setting a future date. This way, the site will automatically submit the comic at the time and date I want. This would save a lot of time, especially when I finish comics but want to hit the deadline exactly (I finished the four comics I've just posted yesterday but felt that, in order to meet the Tuesday/Friday updates that we've established, I should have posted it today). Well, now that I've got that under control, enjoy the comics, guys!

Hey it's Alexander here again. Sorry for the more delays but I have an Economics project for high school and I have to make a small business. What I've done is made a series of comics for sale, and so far I'm doing fine. And in addition, after a week or two after I sell certain comics, I'll post them up on the site! If you guys see me around, ever, like publicly, hope to see you guys support the comic series!

Game Update #2: Compatibility, Controls, and Radio

Every so often, I'll update you guys with some details on the game itself. Here's the second one as the first one I did in my last post.

Compatibility
As far as I know, the game will be compatible with Windows XP. I'm not sure if the game can be ran on other operating systems and I highly doubt it though I'm not sure about how the game will work on Vista. I'll test it one day and tell you guys.

Controls
The game can be played using the keyboard or a gamepad. Personally, I test the game with a gamepad. When I refer to buttons I mean buttons so don't get them confused with the keys on your keyboard:
C Button- Confirm
B Button- Go Back
A Button- Pause
X Button- Call Radio Menu
Y Button- Call Main Menu
L Button- Switch characters in Status/Skills/Equip
R Button- Switch characters in Status/Skills/Equip
Directional Buttons- Move cursor or move character.

You can change which buttons are assigned to which key (or buttons if you're using a gamepad) by pressing F1 any time during the game.

Radio System
Based upon the codec system invented in the Metal Gear Solid games, the radio plays an important part in the game. This isn't the radio you find at home, no. The radio in the game is first shown as a crudely made transmission device created by Jae in Act One as their cell phones lack no signal (there are no communication towers where they are) and replace the usage of their cell phones. The radio transmission device, called "Radio" throughout the game, functions as a two-way radio. It is equipped with a transmitter and a receiver on its own and is constantly "on". However, transmission strength can be amplified by pressing the largest button. Radio is worn on one ear like a Bluetooth headset and uses similar technology for transmissions. Frequencies can be chosen by pressing one of two buttons to go up or down one frequency. It can also store any frequency that was previously transmitted to into a bank called Memory Log. This allows for quick dialing.

In the game, the Radio is called by pressing the "X" button, on my gamepad I set it to the button that should be the Square button if the controller was a PlayStation controller (I'm telling you this just so that you get a feel of how I feel it should be placed if you are using controllers). You don't call members of your party with it as they all travel with you at the same time, but you can call key people you meet in the game. Also, there are two hidden frequencies that cannot be stored in Memory Log. These two frequencies can prove to be quite useful to you in certain situations.

That's the update for today, see ya.
